What a beautiful example of a chardonnay this is. This wine featured in July�s Cuisine, it received 3.5 stars alongside some iconic wines such as the Te Awa Chardonnay. It was one of New Zealand�s top 30 Chardonnays and there was also mention of the high quality of Chardonnay fruit that had come out of Gisborne. We were the only Gisborne winery to get a wine in the top 30 and as 2004 was our first vintage, we think this is a fantastic sign of the promising results to come! The 2004 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay shows lovely stone fruit, floral aromas and a hint of oak on the nose, while the palate exhibits full pineapple, peach and ripe citrus characters. The palate has fabulous weight and texture, while the finish is long and lingering. A balanced wine, which offers a fantastic combination of fruit, oak and palate texture.
